Graduation III
Now that the nerve-wracking parts were out of the way it was time to celebrate our accomplishment and enjoy our last evening on campus!
With the all too familiar walk to the train station that reminded me of quite a few late mornings running to catch the train up to Caux, it was amusing to walk the same path past the Freddy building onto platform one and into the sardine-packed train of family, graduates, tourists and some unfortunate Swiss residents who lived along the route up.
In the heat of the summer, this 20-minute ride up was hot, cramped but yet stunning. The water of lake Geneva glistened from the sun's reflection and the mountains were filled with greenery and the sounds of summer.
Once we made it up to Caux we all got out of the train and headed into campus. This was the moment where we saw lectures who had been with us since our first year to those that had been teaching us just a few months prior and most importantly the first years showcasing their hard work and dedication.
The grand hall was stunningly decorated with a surplus of food, ranging from sushi, beef fillet, cheese, watermelon and macaroons! The garden served as a great place to cool off while appreciating the amazing views this castle provided as one glanced into the distance.
The rest of the evening was spent in great company, socialising and celebrating the achievements. With some new introductions, and familiar faces, all of us had gathered to celebrate and for this unique evening, we all had loved ones with us to support us as well.
The evening finished off with a beautiful display of fireworks to bid farewell and send us off to our new journey forever remembering the people and places of SHMS-IHTTI not as students but for the first time as Swiss Education Group Alumni.
p.s The train ride back down to Montreux featured a great mix of musical entertainment and great spirits among all of us leading us into the start of a long night celebrating!
